Ok, so I am building my own version of what could be called the PC-Rider seen at http://www.computuning.com. Now, i have my own schmatic which uses 16 LEDs and I ordered all the electronic components through my school but now I want to buy some LEDs at a decent price. These Computuning guys are pretty high, but I can get it from them if I have to.

I was hoping someone could let me know what kind of LEDs are best for this, where I can buy them, and how much they cost (I'm looking for around $1.75-0.50 per LED). I've looked at some interesting sales on ebay from reliable people but my primary concerns are how large the viewing angle should be for such a project, how bright should the LEDs i buy be rate (mcd value) and how much should I expect to pay.

Thanks in advance!

Try DigiKey. Tel: (800) DIGI-KEY = (800) 344-4539.

I think they have a $5 minimum, so if that's too much, try All Electronics. (888) 826-5432. They buy huge lots of manufacturers' overstock and closeout items.

I've used Jameco before with good results, they have a decent selection of LEDs. The only problem is the flat fee shipping, $6.00 for ground, though that seems to be a common feature of components suppliers.

Just noticed that your source was a canadian company, which probably means that a US company is not-so-useful. However, the pricing at Jameco is about right for the parts.
