LED Flashlights any good?

I've been looking at these lately and wondered if anyone has one and how you like it. I'm looking at this one in particular. About how much should I expect to pay for a flashlight like this?
 
Well I'm looking for a larger one like in that link... I'm just curious, do the 10 LED's produce the same amount/intensity of light as a regular flashlight that uses incandescent bulbs? I know the batterys last A LOT longer... but is the light you get from it comparable to a really good regular one?
 
My dad's got one of the keychain ones, and also a "pen" type one, and he uses both daily (he's a mechanic). Whether that will be any good for what you need to use it for, i'm not sure

I got This one for Christmas last year, It's definatly a lot brighter than my old Mini Maglite that I use at work, but the batteries are way more expensive because it uses those Photo Batteries CR123. It last about 50 hours at full intensity which is very bright but after that the light gets kind of dull and makes things harder to see at a distance.
 
I'm not using it for anything special... I'm just tired of these cheap ones I have... you know... the ones you buy in the checkout at the grocery store that are $7.95 and come with free batteries. I figured I'd get something decent that'll last and won't stop working in a few months. The Lightwave 4000 looks like it's about $40 on eBay... doesn't sound too bad does it?
 
ive heard good things about Inova..and they make what seems to be a very good looking keychain LED and also normal-sized led flashlight
 
If you are looking for a high quality keychain type LED, try CMG Equipment... I have one of the Infinity ultras, and its great for something I can just throw in my pocket....

I got one of those photon ones, blue, it rocks! Bright enough to pretend there's police at your friend's door at night. 😀
 
i suggest that you go to walmart and get a brinkmann long life led light. it is compact and the battery last a very very very long time. it is great for camping!

I have the CMG Ultra, it's really good, I use it everyday. Not too bright, not too dim, indestructable. waterproof, the battery lasts a long time and it's small enough for a keychain or pocket use.

I also have the Cabelas 3-D cell, 3-10-20 LED switchable flashlight which is really good too. You can switch brightness, it is waterproof as well, and of course the long battery and bulb life that you expect in a LED unit.
 
Hmmmm... I wonder what kind of switch would be best... the kind that you twist, or the kind that's just a button.

Brinkmann is fine for most people. I am happy with my Rebel and Legend LX are great and about $20.00 each.

Innova on the low end, Arc and Surefire on the high end. A Luxeon Star emitter is about as bright as 10-15 LED's (1W) and the 5W emitter is brighter than all regular flashlights.

Nobody has any comments on the Lightwave 4000 that I found? Seems to be pretty reasonably priced... is that Surefire L4 actually $140 or am I looking at the wrong thing???
 
I haven't looked at these individual models, but any flashlight with a Luxeon Star LED will be one of the best.

Just as bright as most normal flashlights, but longer battery life.
 
I had a nice old style Petzl headlamp for a while and when I got an LED headlamp I was amazed at the improved illumination. I highly recomend them.

I am thinking of getting a Canister Light, but tht is for a very unique application...
