LeBron James. Is he REALLY all that?? Poll: Yao Ming or Lebron, who is the future?

overrated mb??

ok, so i'm watching the cleveland / minnesota game and i have to ask, is Lebron perhaps overrated?

1st of all, if lebron is indeed 18, then he is only going to get thicker. look at lebron now vs MJ at NC. look how think MJ was vs how thick Lebron is now. As he gets thicker, he will get slower and even now, he nowhere near as quick as MJ was at NC.

can Lebron be a Magic?? i just haven't seen it, i haven't seen the same level of vision or court leadership (mb it's because he's too young), but i just don't see it.

I once asked someone who they would have choose to build a team, Lebron or Yao Ming. Personally i'd take Yao.

what do you guys think?

I'd take James over Yao. I think Yao needs a few more years or maybe he'll never reach the point where he is as good as he should be.

are you crazy? his "thickness" is not a problem at all. his frame has developed very early and it's highly unlikely that he's going to become some huge tard in a couple years. sorry but that's one of the dumbest things ive ever heard.

also his court vision is obscenely good.

believe me, i HOPE he fails because i am sick of all the hype but what i've seen out of him so far has impressed the hell out of me. he is indeed as advertised and he's going to be damn, damn good for a long time.

btw, you should be committed if you'd rather have yao. yao is a stiff.

Can we quit questioning the guy and just let him play his game and enjoy the sport?

a stiff?? in his 2nd year in the NBA he already ranks as a top 5 Center.

name SIX centers you'd take ahead of Yao?

i'm not questioning him, i'm speculating.

sports fans have speculated on players as long as people have watched sports.

Personally I don't think Yao has the mentality to dominate. Guys like Duncan, Shaq, and Garnett have the drive that you want to build a team around. I think LeBron is closer to developing that mentality than Yao is. For both of them I say it's too early to be saying they'll be the future of the NBA, give em 5 years. Hell we all thought Kobe was gonna be next and look what happens (ditto with Vince, McGrady, Hill, etc). Give it some time.

He's a top 5 center by default simply because there's not much talent in the NBA at that position.

not JUST by default. you have to give him SOME respect, he can score. he is big and he can shoot.

if he develops some toughness he will move to top 3 centers in the league.

you know the mutant chinese people will eventually take over the world. Yao is simply the latest model of the Chinese Gov't's super-soldier project . . . and he may already be out-dated.

guess what guys, we watched Lebron get SCHOOLED by sprewell in the first game, let's see how Yao fares in the second game why don't we?

hahahaha. i know i know, yao has a MUCH better team around him then Lebron does. :shrugs:

i think both players are great. i like yao more though, since i havent seen lebron play a lot. ive seen yao play and im greatly impressed. if someone says yao isnt one of the best centers, i dont know what they're thinking.

I'd like Yao to be the future simple because he is different. We've already seen a Lebron.... MJ. 🙂 We all know that marketing and reality will lead to Lebron for the future. Unless he gets injuries like Grant Hill. 🙁..

i would agree with the statement that he's by default ranked 5th, and the only reason why he's perhaps ranked 5th is because of his "size", which he uses poorly, he's 7'5 but can't use it like shaq.

yao needs to put on some weight, he should weigh in as much as shaq since he's taller, but he doesnt. basically i'd pick lebron, even though he haven't quite impressed me yet, but he does have the potential unlike yao

i haven't bothered reading the rest of the posts, but here are my 2 cents.

First off, Lebron is doing amazing. He has solid stats all around. He almost had a triple double in his very first NBA game. In tonights game, some broadcaster said that Lebron is giving other NBA players too much respect. Once he believes that he has better skills than they do, he will be even better. So yes, Lebron will become one of the best in the game.

And Yao...I believe Yao Ming will become one of the best centers ever. He's huge, he can shoot, he has good moves, and he's a good passer. The Rockets just haven't utilized him enough yet, but that is going to change with Van Gundy. Things have already started to change and his stats are very impressive. He'll just continue to improve.

So I believe that both Lebron and Yao Ming will be the two frontrunners in the future of the NBA. If they weren't, then this post wouldn't even exist

I meant this thread as in all the speculation. My point was that both of those guys must have some pretty good talent if some people think they will be the future of the NBA
