If they offer you enough incentive to stay, then do so, after you've taken a leave of absence to sort whatever out that you need to. Doing the Appalachian Trail has always been a dream of mine ... DO IT!

im 25 and i dont think i mentioned "selling out", rather i was talking about chasing money. i think that can happen at any financial level. if you put money as your #1 priority, i think you will miss a lot of things in your life (which i have, until this point, been doing).

OP i wish i was in your shoes. i wanted out, i actually told my boss about how i feel today off the record, he didnt really care for it as he's looking to leave himself too.

talk to the managers... talk to the guys at chysler...

tell them BOTH that whatever you decide to do, it will be AFTER you get away for a while... tell them that if they still want to hire you in XXmonths time, you would be happy to have a job.

🙂

sounds like the best plan.

*bump for update*

man, whats up with chrysler's timing? i had written them off, because they never got back to me after the initial phone call.

and i had pretty much made up my mind to go hiking for the next 1-2 months, including spending about 2 hours at my local camping gear store yesterday, trying to figure out what i needed to get.

then, this morning (actually 11am), while im still half sleeping, i hear the chrysler guy on my voicemail. so, i called him back and now i have an interview on monday. i really dont even want the job, but i figure ill listen to what they have to say (although the interview sounds like its going to be a pita). they are going to have to make me an insane offer to stay in the area. but it does sound like they are desperate for help.

*bump for update 2* ^ although no one even reponded last time 😛

well, chrysler made me a nice offer, but i rejected it. so they made a slightly nicer offer and i rejected that too. so im all set to hike part of the AT in july.

feels good not to sell out. 🙂
