The 15-hour drive begins Tuesday night and I'm staying for five days. All I can remember from the last time I was there was WINGS at every block, and lots of mini-golf courses. Am I remembering correctly?

I'm staying in a hotel right on the beach, forget the name, Coral Reef, or something like that? Anyway, it's a suite, with a living room, kitchen, and small dining area. The balcony is right on the beach line. :D

I'll be sure to take lots of pics, but I'm not bringing the digital and my scanner's not working. Well I'll get them scanned somehow when I return (11th).

South Carolina sucks, but Myrtle Beach ain't bad.

Have fun. Stay away from the rest of the state, its garbage.

Hope the weather will be nice!

I'm going with the high school band. :p All they require of us is one parade, and the rest of the time of ours. For $525 for the whole trip it ain't that bad. That includes attending planned events, shows, dinners, THEMED dinners (some castle place where you eat dinner and they do a show in the middle of the place, forget what it's called), and other stuff.

It'll be my last fun event of high school. All my buds from senior class. Looking forward to it.

Enjoy the beach, as ghetto as it may be. Seriously, I think I like the Mississippi beaches better than Myrtle Beach.

Eh, I'm not really even much of a beach guy, and I hate the ocean, not a good water person. It'll just be great to take a week off school, be with the friends, do stupid stuff.

I remember last time we were there we somehow captured a fly in ice cream and then microwaved it. We were freshman at the time, though, so that explains it.

Oh, sweet! :)

I was in marching band in HS too, band trips were always fun.

Edit: What do you play?

As I remember, Myrtle Beach divided up pretty clearly into "rich" and "ghetto". :)

Edit: I went there on HS band trips too. :D

Yep, the trips and symphonic band were really my only incentives to stay in it all these years. Marching sucks.

Edit: Trumpet.

They're taking you to the Dixie Stampede? :D

I think you're going to the same competition I went to 3 years ago... what's your HS name?

Cool. I enjoyed marching band somewhat myself though, although marching french horns don't compare at all to the real thing. :p Symphonic band was always great. (It helped too that I was first chair at my school for three years....:p)

<----former French horn player obviously

Three years ago? That was my freshman year, when we were also there, and in that parade. We were in Myrtle Beach AT THE SAME TIME??111!?

Symphonic is great, I'm really hoping to get into the orchestra at Grove City next year. I doubt I'll be good enough, though. :(

Let's make sure this is really true: Do you remember it downpouring during the parade?

Just keep practicing and who knows where you'll go. :)

I was never that great about practicing regularly myself though, lol...Everyone else at my school seemed to think I was some sort of French Horn god or something though....

I don't seem to remember it raining during the parade... actually, come to think of it, it was 2 years ago, not three.

I never practice on my own, I find it boring, but I love playing my instrument IN the band/orchestra.

TheLonelyPhoenix: Oh well, close enough. :p At least we were both there.

Yeah, now that I think about it, that's probably what it was for me too. I loved playing in a group (whether the full band, or in a brass quintet for example). :)

Yeah...we had a few really good players, we'd get together and just play brass quintet music sometimes....good times, I miss it. :)

We never did get to actually play at competition though because our tuba player became deathly ill like the day before....lol

Oh, just a local solo & ensemble competition that's held by the UIL. (Which is the body that regulates all extra-curricular activities in Texas, or something like that.)
