You can't do 60wpm on any mobile device, let alone ANY touchscreen one. That said, I'm as fast on my Storm as I was on my Bold.

agreed on the app memory, but unless you download every app that you see you wont fill up 256mb. your argument of keys vs. no keys is moot, considering its a touch screen vs. a physical keyboard. they're both good and depends on the user.

i have 15 apps installed and my storm runs fine.

why do you need to type 60 words per minute? are you one of those people who types with their eyes bulging out of their sockets, trying to compress the keyboard into the device? unless you're typing out an essay on your device, i'd say it isnt really a big deal unless you really cant spare 10 additional seconds to type it out on your MOBILE device...

the latest official OS is a solid build and has no "hourglass" issues - i havent rebooted my storm in 2 weeks and i have no problems with responsiveness.

if you work for your phone, then you clearly are not deserving of a smartphone and should downgrade.

I guess it's the same reason I type on a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard and a Samsung NC10 netbook...because the keys were built for speeeeeed.

I disagree. Installing OS after OS after OS felt a lot like work to me. Now that I've done all that work, I feel as though the Tour's my well deserved payday.

Oh well. The OP wanted advice on a phone other than the Storm, I think we've just about covered it and now we're into "defend my Storm @ all costs!" territory.

Don't get me wrong, I don't need to defend the Storm, I have my pick of any BB I choose. What I do rail against is FUD about a very good device. e.g.;

- Updating the OS on Storm takes less than 30 minutes including backing up and restoring all messaging, apps and Enterprise Activation.

- My device DID leak mem on certain releases of the OS. My current release does not and goes for weeks without needing a bounce. It needs it less than my Bold did.

I think what we should agree on is this; The Storm was not the device for YOU. That doesn't mean that others won't find it to be a great device.

I don't have any experience w/ enterprise activation, but updating the OS w/ complete restore took less than 15 minutes for my final .151 hybrid. Of course, I'd done it 7 times by then. As for the leaking, why wouldn't it happen on the Tour? I'm using the same apps and more, but it never crawls like the Storm after a day or two. And the only time it needs a bounce, as you call it, would be if a running apps upgraded.

I may be a lot more jaded than the next guy using a Storm, but there's NO shortage of forums and sites berating the thing. I've seen 3 Verizon managers blast the Storm and watched as they gave them away in the BOGO deal. And then you have myself, pcmag, laptopmag, and engadget putting the Tour in front of the Storm as well. After using both for a considerable amount of time, I simply don't see why anyone would opt for a Storm.

You've simply got more memory to leak into with the Tour.

Any of the sites berating the Storm will be articles based upon the debut device in Nov 08. I'd wager none of those site have taken a look at an updated unit and run it as a long termer. It's not how they roll. Review a device, call it, stick to original view, new shiny device arrives, review that, ad infinitum.

Now, Verizon. Where to start. They're part of the problem. They broke the device against the wishes of RIM and started with the 'viral' videos online and so forth. They pushed RIM to launch before xmas 08. The OS wasn't ready, simple as. The hardware is solid. It's based on the Qualcomm MSM7600, a great chipset. In fact some features of that set are unused, such as Hardware 3D rendering. 'Managers' can blast it all they want, but they have people higher up to blame.

As for the BOGO, it wasn't just for Storm, AFAIK, and promotions like this say nothing about a device. If V decide they don't want a device they'll go back to the vendor and have them buy them back with the threat of not stocking future product.

I really enjoy my Storm. It's a fantastic device IMHO. It's fun, powerful and a great tool. It allows me to do what I want where I want. It's a shame you didn't like it, but there are plenty of happy Storm owners on this forum that wish you well with your Tour. :beer:
