Leaving a program or game open 24/7

Would you say it is a security risk ? I really could care a less either way but I always wondered this. If I have to answer my own question I would say depending on the program or game it could be.

I would say yes because you are leaving a session open. Whether or not someone tries to exploit that, you are leaving yourself flagged. Also a 24/7 session could get your IP banned as they might think your up to something. Not worth it.

Ive never had an issue leaving any gaming session open or connected for even days at a time. I wouldnt worry about it from a security perspective. Only from a gamer perspective like power_hour mentioned with a possible ban imminent... though worst case, if its a pay to play, or a game you paid for to play, the most they could do is an idle drop.

Well, me and some of my friends used to keep MMOs running on our PCs practically 24/7. Nothing ever happened to us.

Then again, basing your actions on ours might not be a good idea...

The more stuff you have running, the better the chances of an exploit existing.
