to make a game console that doesn't boot.

couple of days ago my xbox wouldn't boot the game. the console would power up, but nothing would show up on the tv screen. then i tried pressing the eject button - the indicator light would flash as normal, but the cd tray wouldn't eject. great. this went on for 5 minutes before bill gates was able to re-hack into my xbox and finally decided to stop screwing with me.

now again this same thing has happened, only that it's been going on for more than 30 minutes. seems like billy has decided to be a cruel sonofabitch and keep me from playing at all today. what a piece of sh!t.

and no, my xbox is not modded, and the game is not a rip. (the game stuck in the tray is nfl fever 2003, ironically also a microsoft product.)

Any other games with boot problems ?

You're saying it's a console problem and not a software (game) problem ...

well i just used a drill bit to take out the rivets, and used screws to put it back together.

and while we're talking about mods, here's a remote control "mod" i did a little while later.

well it might be a problem related specifcally to nfl fever 2003. both times i've experienced the problem, it was w/ this game in the tray. however, i play this game 95% of the time so i don't know if i'd be able to corelate the two just yet.

Simple, try another game just for kicks and see if it boots right away.

Any scratches on the NFL Fever disc ?

Oops missed that part. ;) With the power off, you can carefully get it open. Do this at your own risk though. Sorry.

That is totally cool. I actually like your Remote Control Mod more than your Case Mod (Although that Dragon IS bad a$$)

I got my xbox the day of release at 7 am, and it's still going strong :)

Did you get any type of extended warranty on that thing? I know it's not likely, but maybe you forgot :)

i agree totally. aesthetics only go so far, after a while you can get tired of staring at the case (although this hasn't quite happened yet, :p) but the convenience of the remote control mod (and the USB mod and other things i added) really never fade.

well i got best buy's service plan. but the last thing i want to do is take it to them. they're just gonna give me a new one - then down the toilet go all my saved games and profiles. gah.

my xbox is not modded either, and i've had the same problem. 99% of the time it works fine, but it's the only console I'e ever played where:

A. it'll lock up when playing a game (locked up a lot in the FPS Star wars game --forgot the name)

B. Sometimes just won't boot. Unplug it a little while, and it's fine.

Is there a little "emergency eject" hole on the drive? There usually is on PC CD drives, there might be one on the xbox also.
