I never carry cash.

Cash is asking to:
1) Get robbed
2) Get pick-pocketed
3) Not get any benefit (No cash-back)
4) Not gain any credit (No credit = have fun when you need a car or house loan later in life)

I can go on with the disadvantages, can think of little to no advantages.... (And for every place that takes cash only, I can name many that take credit card only).

Lol, a robber will not know if you have cash or not. I am not talking $1000's of dollars, just a couple hundred.

Splitting checks is childish and just causes more work for the waitstaff and confusion especially when you are sitting for a long time and ordering appetizers and possibly bottles of wines. The server now has to confirm who's check gets what and usually at the end it's all he said she said on different line items not being right.

It's retarded to not have some cash on you.

No shit, sherlock. I know that the amount has to be equal to or greater than minimum wage. The point simply being, working at fast food you do not have to work any harder to get to your already set wage.

Then why didn't you say that Sherlock, instead of:

That would be completely, (and totally) false. The only state I know of that does this is California. You are wrong.

Never even have looked back into this.

If the guy picking up the whole tab was heading out and covering it all, I'd think possibly his buddies should have been leaving a pretty hefty amount of cash tip on the table.

I mean he did cover most of it, I had a boss I used to work for would do that put it on his corporate card, then we'd all pitch in and cover the tip very well.

Was usually about 30-40% at least.

We were popular with the female servers at Kers Wing House, etc, they took care of us real well.

Had a few that would see us coming and seat us in their area on purpose :)

The problem you don't understand is it's the same as not paying someone.

15% is expected for service in america. That is just to have food shuffled back and forth. It's not for anything extraordinary.

My wife worked as a server at her cousin's restaurant for a year when the economy went south in 2009. She never expected 15% no matter what, and neither did the servers she worked with. It's not the same as not paying someone, or it would be illegal.

It's a small mom and pop place, and in a small town that wasn't very busy, but she still averaged $20 an hour.

McCoy did the right thing, and we can only hope the restaurant goes under.

Chances are she was getting more or less 15% then.

While servers don't expect proper tips they are entitled to them.

Hell, when I delivered chinese food I'd average 15% on my deliveries, the Dominoes pizza guys next store would only get the change rounded up usually 'because it's just pizza'.

So sad the way people treat their servers.

So the crappy server is going to let the manager know?

bahahahaha.

Run Forrest, run!
What makes you think that manager cares?
If it is high end enterprise than staff is closely watched, if not, they obviously don't care.

Sry bro but this is really just silly statement. Risk taking jobs, high responsibility jobs etc, don't get any tips what so ever, what does make waitresses so special, that they are doing almost nothing besides peak hours? I know that dealing with customers sucks sometimes but honestly there are more abusive jobs out there where people are treated much worse by anyone above them(customers, executives, etc) and are expected to deliver error-free performance or failure can have anything from financial to deadly consequences and are paid less. Nothing of these restaurant staff has to face.

Not to mention I never tipped pizza delivery guy. I don't know any reason for tipping whatsoever. I only tip at bars/restaurants just because others do it, or it's some old etiquette but I don't see any purpose in it, beyond giving away free money to someone just like that.

The manager will definitely care esp. if he gets part of the take as a bonus. All it takes is a couple bad reviews to get bad word of mouth out.

Lol at a waitress does nothing special. Not most people do, what do you do that is so special? The difference is a waitress gets paid usually only $2/hr or so, has no benefits and expects that tip to round out her wages. Not everyone can get a 'different' job.

For not tipping your pizza driver, if you are serious I hope you don't reorder from the same place twice.

You should go pick up your own food and stick to 'Mickey D's' for sit down meals.

You think a thief doesn't watch you as you pay for your items? As you open your wallet and see if you pull out plastic or papers? It's quite simple.

It's not childish at all, and it's pretty simple with todays computer technology. If that is confusing for you than you than guess what? You're not moving very far from that waiter position...

You could *gasp* write down who had what from the very get-go. I hear that is useful for when you bring the food to the table so you don't have to go "Ok who had the sloppy joe and the margarita?" for everyone.

Jesus dude, just stay under you rock if you live in that much fear.

Chances are most people leaving most bars/night clubs have cash on them. Personally at some bars I don't want my credit card in the staff's hands. Places I trust no problem.

Sounds like you eat in some crappy places if your waitress can't remember the order.

What I was saying is when she is told to bring another bottle of wine or appetizer, how does her know who's tab it goes under.

You probably don't eat out much nor in groups though in reality.

I like the simplicity of eating with friends and since we are all smart enough to know basic math can add the tip and then divide the check evenly.
