Ah I love my leatherman, I use it pretty much every day. I'm becoming more and more convinced that the only tool I ever need is a leatherman :D I've change the battery in my car, trimmed some tree branches, cut thru drywall plus all the normal stuff you can do with the knife. I feel naked without it  Somebody actually asked me this week why I say leathermans are better than gerbers, I didnt have any really good point besides they just are :p

The little cut-out in the side of the can-opener is the wire stripper. Use it by scoring the sheathing of the wire with the blade, using the "wire stripper" to pull it off....likely with the wire gripped between the stripper and your thumb.

Edit: Doesn't look visible in that pdf. Look at one up close to see what I mean.

shoot... wouldnt it be easier to use the hard wire cutters (#4) to strip a wire? stick the wire in the circular slot, slowly close leather man while twisting it?

When I first moved out I used my leather man wave to cut food, slice bread, and install a ceiling fan (involved cutting a hole in the ceiling). Still have it years later and it works great.
