Leatherman getting hard to open/close

MY leatherman minitool that I got from a great ATOT'er in the first secret santa is getting all gritty.

Theres no smooth open/close motion anymore. I didn't want to just squirt some oil in there as its in my pockets a lot and I don't want to get any in my pockets.

What do you guys use? Or do you just get new ones/lose them by the time that happens?

Radio Shack has these small "needle tip applicator" tubes of lubricant that should work well. It doesen't degrade, attract dirt/dust, run, etc. Contains PTFE.

I'm sure you can also get something from Leatherman or an outlet.

The way you wrote that, it thought it was some deadly poison but after a quick google, it just appears to be a lubricant and also used in the treatment of carpets and stuff.

Thanks a lot. I'll be heading by radio shack today.

KY Jelly

It may not be the best, but can you name another penetrating oil that you can get at CVS?

Transmission fluid and gun lube also work well. The latter being for more lasting protection, but less likely to be on hand. Unless you own guns, then you should have one.
