leather care for my new car

I just bought an 03 ex-v6 accord. very nice i might add.

Anyways, i picked up some meguiar's gold class leather wipes to treat my seats. however, after rubbing them down they look all wet and shiny. eww. . . I don't like this, it makes the leather look fake and cheap.

Does anyone know if this is normal for leather products and will it eventually soak in or go away?

I also used the armor all wipes on my dash, etc. and it looks the same way, which i don't like either.

meguiar's medallion leather care or something like that

probably find it at kragen's or autozone or something

better than lexol (which is probably 2nd best)

I'll never buy a car with leather seats. Blech.

Sorry for the thread crap. 😛

After having a car with leather seats, I'd never buy one without them. No matter what anyone says, they aren't hot and they don't require excessive care. You can keep them new looking forever. And once you have small children, you will wonder why you ever considered cloth seats.

Tip.. Let the leather conditioner sink in a bit and then buff it down with a clean towel. The shine should come off. I like to use the Pinnacle leather conditioner, though since I got my new car with perforated leather, I've been using the Meguiar's rich leather wipes. I tried the regular conditioner at first and clogged a lot of the perforated holes. I was going around cleaning the white stuff out of the holes with a tooth pick.

Anything you use is better than nothing. You want to use a cleaner and then a conditioner. The cleaner will clean the body oils off (wearing shorts) that will dry the leather out and crack it eventually. The conditioner feeds the hide and makes it stay pliable and nice.

Armor All pulls essential oils out of vinyl and rubber. Ever see a car's tires that have had excessive Armor All treatments? they look more grey. True that just sitting in the sun bakes some of the oils out of vinyl dashes. I use some stuff we've had in our house for awhile, Amway leather cleaner. It smells good and cleans well. Doesn't leave that nasty residue Armor All does either.
