Least "Sparkly" 30" Monitor

Hey all,

I'm looking for a 30" monitor that has the least bothersome "sparkly" matte screen. I speak of the effect that you get from aggressive anti-glare coating, where you it looks like it's "steamy" or has a layer of fine dirt over the screen. This is not troublesome for many people, but I'm used to glossy monitors, so I can't stand it.

I had a Dell U2711 for a less than a day. The reason I returned it was because of the terrible "sparkly" anti-glare coating. I'm looking at 30" monitors right now which are all matte.

My options I've compiled are: the HP ZR30w, the Dell 3008WFP, and the Samsung 305T. Any more recommendations are welcome. Which is the least "sparkly?"

P.S.- I've also looked at the ASUS VG236H which is only 23 inches, but I hear 120Hz and 3D is out of this world. Unfortunately, I have a ATI Radeon 5970, so I don't think Nvidia's 3D will work. Any workarounds or alternatives?

I haven't used a 3008, but my 3007 certainly does have the 'sparkly' effect due to the excessive anti-glare coating. It only shows its self in certain conditions though. Lots of white on the screen and with the room well lit, etc.

If you don't want that effect, I would go for the Samsung, I believe it's a MVA panel. The grainy effect you are trying to avoid is a trait of IPS panels. That said, IPS is a superior panel to MVA. So weigh your options.

Stay away from 3008 if you game, that monitor is great except for the input latency.

Buy a 3007wfp hc instead

DO NOT BUY APPLE Monitors unless you can get the employee discount, which is like 30%.

The only true way to avoid glare is to darken the room. put lighting behind monitors also helps.

I've had no issue with input lag on my 3008WFP
