Can I lease an IP from my DHCP server (a Linksys BEFSR41) for 6 months? I mean, If I type in 259,200 seconds, will the unit support it?

Yeah.... I would probably end up doing that. Thanks

the RFC doesn't have a limit. You can try setting a lease time of 0 which means "never"

I still can't fathom why you'd need a lease that long though.

I know, I was just messing around with the settings. I can easily use a static IP for that machine, that's all.
It's because the PC is a notebook that uses a dynamic IP in two different networks (the office and home) and I didn't want to change the settings (static for the office, dynamic for home or viceversa) everytime I switched environments.
If you know anyway to reserve an IP based on a MAC address, please tell me.

I believe a lot of Linksys products use Linux internally, you might be able to 'break' in and configure dhcpd manually.
