Learning VB 2008 express

I have some minimal experience with object oriented programming (C++) and am trying to learn VB 2008 for my major (finance). I downloaded it from microsoft, opened it up and did a hello world program I found on about.com. At this point it looks like nothing I have done before and I really just need a good tutorial, similar to a college course if possible, to learn this thing. I figure I can knock it out over spring break (ya how cool does that make me!) but I need something to teach me.

Any recommendations on what to use to learn it?

Best book I can recommend is "Pro VB.net 2005/2008 and the .NET 2.0/3.5 Platform" by APress Publishing. I live and swear by the C# version.

I agree with the idea of getting a book. Go down to Borders and browse through any books they may have on the subject. Once you figure out what book you want, buy it on Amazon 😀
