Learning to Ski

xanis

Lifer
Going to Blue Mountain this weekend with some friends. I've never skied before, but I've snowboarded and it was hard as hell. My friend (who's pretty good) said she'll teach me, and I'll probably get some lessons too.

My question is this: Is skiing hard to learn? *NOW WITH POLL*

I didn't have a hard time learning. The only problem is that the better you get... the harder you fall 😀

It's okay, I fully expect to full flat on my ass many times.

Never tried skiing (well I did like once) but most of people who do both say snowboarding is harder.

Snowboarding was hard because I had nobody teach me anything. Went to the top of an intermediate hill with my friends and they said, later. I fell about 40 times before I reached the bottom of the hill. Later I climbed up the bunny slope and figured out the trick to it and was all set from then on.

it's pretty easy

a few years ago I went to ski with my dad. I had never gone before. I took an hour lesson and by the end of it at least I could ski down the mountain without falling on my ass 🙂

just point your skiis downhill and go...don't need any poles! 😀

Seriously if you have ice skated or roller bladed before its similar. It uses similar muscles to bicycling.

You should definitely get a professional lesson in addition to your friend teaching you. Do the lesson, and then ski with her.

Don't let her teach you, pay for 1 or 2 hour lesssons.

If the lessons cost money, let her teach you 🙂

My gf taught me and I was able to pick it up quickly.
