Learning to play piano

Just curious if the only way to learn piano is to get lessons, or if anyone has bought any type of books that help.



Simple and sweet. Im looking for personal recommendations, not google results.
 
you can self teach yourself anything.

i had a teacher for 6 months and it didn't help me too much. but i think she just wasn't a very good teacher. i learned mostly by doing what everyone has to do - practice. but i had the added benefit of already knowing how to read music and i knew some theory.
 
thats the thing, i dont know any of that. Granted i was able to read music a long time ago, but its long gone now.
