Looking for software for winXP that will help me learn spanish. Anyone have any suggestions/experience with spanish teaching software? free or purchasable. Suggestions of websites that will assist me in learning as well would be helpful. (I've seen those cheap $9.99 cd's at stores such as staples, probably debatable quality on those)

Best way to learn castellano= Pimsleur Spanish

Its not software, but it is the best way to learn new languages that I've ever seen.
Not cheap though. Dont expect this endeavor to be cheap though..

you can do it cheaper probably, but I found these lessons to be worth the money. I def think its the easiest way..

I also vouch for pimsleur, At the library where I live, they have the full pimsleur tape sets available for the borrowing. So why not try looking at the foreign language section of your nearest biggest libary(s). Maybe you can request it if they don't got it

Also good is the Side by Side series of books, they are short classic stories representing hispanic culture, English + Spanish translations on adjacent pages, with voc list in the back

There's no real good way to learn Spanish when it comes to yourself. It's a language, and languages are meant to be spoken with others. If you don't learn it with others, it's not all that useful. IMO, the cheap CDs that are at Staples (I've used them before), are pretty good to augment your vocab. However, with grammar and all that, it's tedious with a book/program.
