I want to get a perl book. I know the basics but I want to go deeper into it, and this is supposed to be a good book.

My question is, I can find the 4th edition really cheap. It covers up to perl 5.8.

The 5th edition is out and covers 5.10. Is it worth it to shell out another $15 to get the newer edition or will 4th be ok?

Don't get an outdated edition of a book on a programming language. Try the modern perl one linked above.

The basics of Perl haven't changed in a really long time. Then again, $15 is really not a lot of money. I mean you'll be fine with the 4th edition, but you'll be better off with the 5th. Whether it's worth $15 really depends on you.
