Learning a new language over AIM?

Has anyone ever attempted something of this nature? I have a friend in Sweden and we usually chat for a few hours daily. A few days ago we got around to talking about learning new languages, and she said that she can teach me Swedish if i'm interested. I'm used to steep learning curves and can speak several languages already, but i've never attempted anything like this. So what would be a good way to go about it? I figured we could just start talking in Swedish a little bit every day and i'd gradually expand my vocabulary. Ideas, suggestions, reactions and comments are welcome.

huh, interesting concept. Would largely depend on whether the letters are arabic or not, I suppose, and you'd probably have a horrible accent unless you were listening to something to teach you how to pronounce correctly. But it might be a start.

I have a russian friend i talk to on the computer, his english is good though, so knowing russian is not necessary, so i dont know too much..

Hmm yeah good point with the accent. Knowing the meaning of words is the hardest part though. Fixing up accents is relatively easy if you ask me, as long as i have someone to listen to, like you said 🙂
