So I finally decided to get off my lazy ass and make an appointment take driving lessons. Unfortunaely, I also just realized that my learner's permit expired this month.. :(

I'm heading down to DMV tomorrow morning to wait in line and take the test again. I would normally read/skim the learners permit booklet, but I just moved and most of my stuff is still in boxes.

Has the test changed? Any hard/confusing questions I should be aware of? The test was amazingly simple last time, hopefully it's just as simple this time.

How can a test for a Driving permit be hard?

Look, the test has always been easy, and it forever will be.

Seriously. Look at the freaking morons who pass the damn thing. Barely literate immigrants, the elderly, and mentally deficient citizens all manage to do fine.

If you fail, you're stupid, simple as that.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. :D

I have actually heard the test got 'harder'. Just thought I'd check. Driving lesson is on Thursday, so I wanted to make sure there was NO way to screw up and have to cancel the appointment.

I'm sooo ashamed.. I took it and failed.. needed 14, got a 13. The test has gotten harder since the last time I took it. At least half (if not more) of the test was on fines and other number facts. Fines, surchange event, distance, excise tax, revoking of license. None of the simple questions you'd normally expect.

I'm almost positive I get the excise tax question right, but the machine said it was wrong. The minimal speeding violation fine is $75, but the machine only has answers up to $50. Apparently if you refuse a breathalyzer, you get your license taken away and suspensed. I just thought you were taken to jail and other stuff. The min distance you should be able to see before passing is.... 400ft.. not the 25ft I picked. or 30ft which a friend said when I questioned him (after telling him my sad story).

I took it again (10 minutes later) and passed.

When you take your test for your license, it's customary to lock the person testing you out of the car or a minute or so. It shows you have a sense of humor and they like that.
