learn vb or vba?

I'm primarily interested in creating macros and applications that work with excel and access. Mostly database type stuff. Currently I know nothing 🙂. From what I understand all I need to learn is VBA... however, would it be in my best interest to learn VB2005 instead?

With regards to working with excel/access, is VB the only way to go?
