There is no official language for the US. No current Senator or Representative has the balls to introduce the legislation necessary, cause then your party loses a demographic. I fvcking hate the fact that everything is in 2 or 3 languages, and wish it would all go to English. Would save this country so much money.

McDonald's menus are in other languages in other countries. I acknowledge that America some sort of "melting pot" (though the argument could be made it's more like a tossed salad). Just because we accept others differences does not mean they can't accept our language. I don't mind trying to help someone with their english as long as I can tell they're trying.

If I'm gonna live in some other country with a language I don't know how to speak, you darn well know I'm gonna have to learn how to do it. Other people have done it for so long in the U.S., and they didn't have signs in their language...but somehow they still managed to do it.

English is the language here. Accept it.

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

You're not kidding. I did a research paper in this topic last year. Craploads of money is spent translating government documents and whatnot.

Yes, I support English as becoming our national language, I believe it is unacceptable to live here for years on end and not even make an attempt to learn.

And to the "melting pot" comment, you only encourage more resentment from other citizens in this country when you can't speak english. This is true across the board, its not racist, it's showing the other people that when you came to this country you already weren't willing to even try to learn.

I hate buying something and the manual for it is 60 pages but only 15 or 20 are acutally english, its such a waste. That's good old paper reduction for ya

If you live in America, learn to speak/read english please!

How many Americans would be capable of ordering from a Chinese restaurant that didn't have English menus?

Nothing wrong with having a melting pot of cultures, but we all need to be able to communicate with one another.

I point to my wrist if I want to ask you the time. I point at my crouch to ask you where the bathroom is. Is that not enough? :(

Doesn't matter, there will probably be conflict over the states and whether they belong to USA or Mexico.

Viva Mexico!

Oh man, you did it now.

For the record, I think illegal immigrants should ALL be deported, whether they be Mexican, German, Chinese, or Martian.

Other than the part about English, it is perfect and I agree with the statment. Coming from a man who helped make Puerto Rico a U.S. possession, it sounds kind of dumb to be championing English for all.
