learn a new language?

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a book on learning french? I don't want to learn it in a month or so, I have a good 3 years, any suggestions? I don't want to take any classes or anything.

Yeah... I think you really need to hear the language to learn it well.

i'm taking korean too, it's f'ing hard as hell =

but yea, i wouldn't stand a chance without taking a class, even online doesn't really cut it (they dont' help me in my classes).
there's nothing quite like a native, or even fluent/proficient speaker of a language speaking, and teaching

plus my korean class teaches a bunch of idiom too, things i don't think i'd be able to pick up in a book.

im pretty sure every post in this thread is gonna be "take a class"

really, you cant learn a language by reading it... you have to hear it and you have to hear it from somebody who knows it and you'll learn it easier and faster from someone who can teach it because books dont teach. and trying to pronounce foreign words that you read from a book do no justice to how somebody from france actually says it... in fact, i bet if you taught yourself from a book and went over there, nobody will undestand you

You would learn faster buy just going to france and being forced to speak it. Seriously. You'd be surprised how fast one can learn a new language.

I wanna take Korean again. It's definately a hard language to learn. I think you need a good while to get good at it.
