I agree with you, but I'm also thinking in a larger sense. For example suppose I read some of the garbage circulating on the web not to reinforce a belief but to see what those I oppose are doing. I now get recommendations for Tucker Carlson and much worse. My feeds change because of my "interests" and there's not an easy way to combat that effect.

I pick a browser that does not accept cookies, go on in invisible mode and use a VPN at times as opting out is a joke.

All that to say the idea of the OP of some vast conspiracy is to be charitable, deeply flawed, it is in the nature of the current internet to direct us to things we will like be they political or a matter of toothpaste.
