Leak checking a new watercooling rig...

yeah, i know. you spend all that time and money setting up your beloved gaming / o'cing machine with a "pro" watercooling system and you want it to be right. do you really need to leak check it 24hrs. tho? i mean if after an hour it's not leaking it's pretty much good to go isn't it? this things awesome 😀

Do you really want to take the risk of having a leak and killing your system? From what I've read, they even go so far as to say to test it outside of your computer case, then install it into your system (without disconnecting any tubes). It does make sense to test it outside the system. That way, IF you have a leak, you'll find it sooner (rather than later/too late) and save yourself even more headaches and down time...

I didn't wait 24 hours, and mine developed a leak. It leaked after I hit my Hydor L30 pump a few times with a hammer. I hit it because it wouldn't start. F%$King hydor pumps suck!!!!!!!!!!!! And this was the second one!

If anyone has a Hydor L30 that is working and not leaking, good for you! For those of you wanting to build an H2O system, avoid Hydor pumps! Get the new +12 volt DC pumps. They rock! I haven't had mine leak with my system since then (and the pump starts every time).

If your careful with your planning and don't over tighten your hose clamps (please tell me there aren't idiots out there using metal automotive ones), then everything should be fine.

Granted, you might have a faulty water block or a craked radiator or cracked hose barb (poeple using plastic hose barbs are asking for it), or a hole in your tubing, but these are few and far between.

If YOU feel you need to leak test do so. If you don't trust your ability to assemble an H2O system that won't leak, get someone else to do it for you or don't do it. Besides, if someone else does it for you and it leaks and kills your system, you'll have someone to be angry at other than yourself.

i let it run for a couple of hrs. in the case without the mb powering up. dry as a bone. i installed my cards, hooked up my drives and plugged in the mb. runs great 😀
