League of Legends, pretty much a standalone DotA game.

I searched and I don't think anyone's posted this yet (I'm sure I'm wrong), but for the DotA fans here, take a look at League of Legends. All of the links are in the article.

It looks pretty damn cool, so I'm excited to see what it's like. The forums are already pretty active and Riot Games seems like a proper company to develop the game. Guinsoo is one of the game devs.

Is it still wrong to ask for a referral if you sign up for the forums or beta? The more refs I get, the more likely it is I get in the beta. :p

Is this a whole separate game, or is it still using the WC3 engine?

Looks interesting, I'll probably follow it. From what I can tell just by the screenshots, it looks like it might use a modified WC3 engine..the art style seems very similar.

It is a brand new game - new engine, new coding behind everything, no limitations with the WC3 World Editor. This means that they can do [almost] whatever they dream up for heroes, items, maps, etc. They've also already said that there's a LeaverBuster system that addresses non-IH or TDA games' biggest problem - leavers.

I don't know why I enjoy DotA so much, since I don't even game that much anymore, but I do. 45-60 minutes at a time to just let your brain rest and have some fun.
