I've always been a strong advocate of the on-hit/AP Kog build since it boosts all his abilities. It's only weak point being that it leaves Kog really slow. So I tried out an AD build of IE + 2xPD and wow it is just devastating. LA doesn't scale quite as well but it still does good damage. But you've basically got a 750 range auto-attack that's critting 3/4 attacks for nearly 600 with an additional 6% of HP magic damage on top. I was melting down their tank from full HP in 3 seconds.

And between having movespeed near 470 and your slime trail, you should be able to dissuade most heroes from getting close to you.

Yeah he's pretty badass either way but IIRC a forum post correctly CandyPanda actually builds Kog as a straight AD carry more often than the hybrid build.

Mastering several champs of each type is also good if you can handle it, but at least one is sufficient. Personally here is what I play for each role

AD/AP melee: Xin, Yi, Trynd, Nasus, Gangplank, Riven, and Jarvan.
AD/AP range: Vayne, Sivir, Teemo, Karthus, Annie, Ryze, Anivia, Morganna, and Veigar.
Tank: Leona, Jarvan, Amumu, Singed, and Rammus.
Support: Sona, Kayle, Morganna, and Janna.
Jungle: Xin, Yi, Amumu, Rammus, Nasus, Gangplank

The only thing I am not comfortable doing is the jungle. I understand the concept, I know the routes, I just am not good at it. I took a couple of weeks one time as Warwick and forced myself to jungle as much as I could, but I still do not like or enjoy it.

As far as your list goes, I can play a lot of different champions. I do enjoy that aspect of playing a different game with the different champions.

AD/AP melee: Xin, Yi, Lee Sin, Trynd, Nasus, and Garen
AD/AP range: Teemo, Annie, Ashe, and Veigar
Tank: Amumu, Singed, and Rammus, to a lesser extent Rumble and Shen
Support: Kayle, Zilean, and Janna
Jungle: Not my cup of tea.

I am by no means a novice at the game now, but I am interested in pushing myself further by learning from others. The typical chat in-game is usually of little substance and I always study the damage types and numbers after every death to make me more aware of whats happening. I've found this especially important when I am tanking.

The animations on the champions are a good example of what I aim to learn. Even sound queues come into play on a lot of champions, such as Lux's laser beam or Cho's ground spikes. Caitlyn on the other hand, that bitch is difficult for me to get a handle on.

Anyone have a good jungle build (inc masteries/runes) and route for shaco? I've done the get red buff and try to gank at level 2 "jungle shaco" before, but after that if the gank fails I kinda just need to lane or I jungle really really slow, as the jungling relied on being able to place jitb before the mobs spawned, you can't rely on that after the initial spawn. It's easy enough to jungle after a few levels with a madreds, but what do you do between level 2 and 4 if you can't get a gank off?

Yep the visual and sound cues are damn important. Caitlyn and Ez are the two hardest in my opinion to read as well. Caitlyn more so if she does her net + shot trick at the same time. There is no cue for it. Just happens. If she does the shot normally she stps, you hear a click, you see her point her gun, and then you see the bullet come flying out. That is pretty easy to dodge actually. Her net shot has no cast or animation time though. It just shoots out. By itself it doesn't do anything but propel her backwards and slow down whatever it hits. However if Caitlyn times it right she can do both her bullet shot and her net shot at the same time which removes the animation and casting of the skill shot for her bullet. Because you get hit with a net to slow you the chances increase you'll be hit with the bullet since you are slower to dodge. On top of that her regular range is the highest in the game for auto attacks. Only tristana at level 18 can match her. Which is real dumb because that was what made tristana shine. Her passive gave her so much range that other people had a hard time dealing with her late game. But because tristana's range "grows" she isn't OP during the laning phase. Caitlyn starts out with that massive range which negates Tristana's passive entirely. Many range chars can even last hit without being harassed by Caitlyn.

Still there is a way to counter her as she is still very squishy low level.

League of Legends v1.0.0.126

Champions

Xerath, the Magus Ascendant

Ascended Form Ascended Form (Innate): Xerath feeds on arcane power, making him increasingly resilient to physical harm. He converts a percentage of his Ability Power into Armor.
Arcanopulse Arcanopulse: Fires a long-range beam of energy, dealing magic damage to all targets hit.

Mage Chains Mage Chains: Deals magic damage to an enemy and marks them with Unstable Magic. The next spell Xerath strikes this enemy with stuns them.
Arcane Barrage Arcane Barrage: Calls down a blast of arcane energy, dealing magic damage to all enemies in an area. May be cast up to three times before going on cooldown.

Karthus

LeBlanc

Fixed a bug where Ethereal Chains Ethereal Chains would not root

Master Yi during Highlander Highlander.

Fixed a bug where Call of the Void Call of the Void would not finish casting if Malzahar died.
Nether Grasp Nether Grasp:
Fixed a bug where it couldn't break with distance.
It will now stop channeling if the target becomes a ghost.

Mordekaiser

Creeping Death Creeping Death now properly gives assists.

Miss Fortune

Bullet Time Bullet Time now scales with both attack damage and ability power, instead of just the higher of the two.

Morgana

Soul Siphon Soul Siphon: spell vamp decreased to 10/20/30 from 15/25/35.

Tryndamere

Warwick

Infinite Duress Infinite Duress:
Slowed down the first two ticks of damage slightly (before, the first two ticks came almost instantly).
It will now stop channeling if the target becomes a ghost.

The Crystal Scar

Ambient gold gain reduced by 7%.
Reduced the time range of the respawns to help early winning teams finish games.

General

Revised all item tooltips to have standardized vocabulary and formatting.
Adjusted Quicksilver Sash Quicksilver Sash's cooldown to properly reflect the tooltip.
Creep camp minimap icons now update properly with all forms of vision
Fixed a bug where Ignite Ignite's visual effect would sometimes persist far beyond the actual duration.
Fixed a bug in which the Show/Hide HUD keybinding would always be F5, despite the selection in the options menu.

I highly doubt they've found all the cornercases in the minimap icon problem but kudos for trying.

From what I hear Xerath takes almost no time to get into/out of siege mode which means it's almost a free movespeed buff (as well as MPen and range). Neat idea, but I think he'll be OP if he doesn't have a downside to using the stance (or maybe a minimum time in stance).

What's with all the double names in that patch note list? Very strange.

As for Xerath he sounds OP as hell. Buying him when I get home.

bad editing on my part. I took it from the wiki and I believe they have nice little header for each section as well as an image for the champion.

Watched the Xerath spotlight. Looks somewhat OP, though interesting. I've always felt that there's an imbalance with some of these super ranged champs (Caitlyn, Kog, etc.).

I would say Xerath is OP, much more so than Kog or Cait.
Played a dominion game against someone playing him last night. Had real issues trying to get close due to the stuns and slows, by the the time I got close enough to do damage to him he would just murder me. :\

Yeah, I guess Kog and Caitlyn are basically just range and damage, while Xerath is range, damage, and CC.

I would argue that super-ranged champs provide more of an imbalance to the game than invisible champs do. You can buy items to see invisible units, though it can be costly and end up slowing your build down too much. Still, at least there is SOMETHING you can do to balance out their advantage. With super-ranged champs, you really just have to deal with it.

TROLOLOLOL

Just got done playing a solo normal draft game. I was one of the last to pick and everyone else that had picked for my team already had picked tanks. They said, lets do a troll tank team so we all had tank chars. I played rammus. We had Shen, Leona, Amumu, and Alistar.

Other team was Vayne, Ezreal, Malphite, Anivia, and Riven.

We stomped all over them hard. It was sooooo funny. Everyone had thornmail on the team. I had also merc treads, phantom dancer, randiuns, sunfire, and aegis. Rest of the team had similar builds. They couldn't kill us at all really. I mean who DO YOU FOCUS? when the entire other team are tanks with major CC and they keep switching who is in front and taunting or stunning.

For reference, Amumu jungled and I went mid. Was mid against Anivia. While it wasn't exactly easy, Anivia never killed me mid either. Just was dodging those little stun balls as best as I could while last hitting as I could. Wasn't that hard really. By mid game we were taking every dragon and baron all late game. Sure our DPS for any single person on the team wasn't that great, but all of us combined? It was pretty funny.

Every time I've played with an all tank team, we've dominated. It's really kind of broken...

I think it depends on the players. While it's definitely not an easy win, going against an all tank team can be won if you have decent pushers. Like he said, not alot of damage usually, you just avoid team fights when possible and concentrate on towers. It's tough to get that through peoples heads sometimes though :)

FYI I think I've outpaced the elo allowance for it but some guy is giving out $50 worth of RP for winning a 1399elo and under tournament. Registration is open for tournament #3 which appears to take place on the 15th. If I lose my next ranked match or two I'll try to put a team together.

http://doublekillamateuropen.webs.com/faq.htm

IMPORTANT EDIT: Registration is $5 per team...

Just had one of my funniest games in awhile. I played my favorite troll, battle hybrid taric. Basically Nashors->Gunblade. My buddy prizmm was Brand, we laned bot, didn't take it seriously at all as we had a leaver in the first minute. Brand+Taric is a beast lane against normal support+ad, which is what we were facing, Taric+Cait. Ended up just straight ripping face and carrying super hard. Always fun to win 4v5, especially when you look them up after and 3 of them are 1400 elo.

Here's the end game screen just to document the hilariousness.

I am in ELO hell and it didn't take too long to get there. Currently at 12-14 in ranked solo. Not good but not terribad considering this is the first season I've played ranked. A few things I've learned from this weekend's gaming sessions are that 1) People are quick to blame anyone and everything for the team losing except themselves and 2) The importance of a low death count is super important. I posted an image of a 6 game spread where I prove my point. Not too bad in any of them, but the 2 losses I died a lot more than the 4 wins.

Thats Captain Teemo to you! :p

Since I started using Teemo I've increased my ELO by a good bit. I was down below 1000 using other champs.

Just out of curiosity what elo range do you guys all define as "elo hell"? <1200, <1000?

I've always guessed it as around 1000. Maybe I was mistaken.

I really really don't want to get into the arguments again, but it has to be <1000 if it exists because I have no trouble winning (solo, not duo) anywhere above that until 1300 at which point gains were slow until 1400. No I don't win every game but it's more than 50%. Of course IIRC I had 491 ranked solo games in S1 so I had a long long time for the statistics to work themselves out with most of it being spend between 1280-1400 where amazingly enough I had few true trolls though plenty of ragers. One thing that seems to help is that I mained support/jungle, the two roles that no one else wants to play which made for much more balanced teams.

As a side note I think captain Teemo is a great ranked pick. Ignore your team and farm/push top all day. If your opponent goes mia be sure to tell your team to turtle and you can get a free tower.

Add me if you want to duo queue out of ELO hell. I'm at 1122 or so. I play almost every roll... Snock514.
