Pretty much everyone I've heard that has played it thinks the acronym does it justice. Skip LoL and just play HoN if you like this style of game. I might be persuaded to hand out invites to HoN even if you are really interested. Might be.

I'd say the exact opposite and everyone I play with is pretty much of the same opinion - LoL is much better than HoN. There's some balancing issues but that is to be expected in a beta. Honestly, I couldn't get much into DotA, HoN, or Demigod. LoL is very compelling and one of the most fun games I've played since TF2 came out.

None. S2 is making HoN. HoN is only a slightly tweaked DOTA with much better graphics and much better engine. So if you like DOTA, you'll love HoN. LoL, though made by someone who worked on DOTA, is not much like DOTA.
