The idea with the card is that I want to tape something in a camcorder of mine, and then hook up my VCR to this card. Will this card work for doing that, so I can put the video on my computer to encode it?

yes. just feed the vcr out into the cable in jack, and tune the capture program to channel 3.

Or, if you want better quality, use the RCA cables out of the VCR into the card (need to buy a splitter for the audio though).

You could also more than likely run your camcorder directly to the card.

Let me tack another question on to this.

I have a GF4 Ti4200 with TV-out. If I get the Winfast TV2000 can I also display video directly through (video overlay) my GF4 to my TV? I basically want to turn my computer into a TiVo without having to watch stuff on my monitor. That just feels dorky to me.

Currently I do use my tv to watch video snippets from my pc.

Thanks in advance

Maybe, but I imagine your picture would be horrible. Using a splitter on the cable would be better quality.

Ah.. I guess I should clarify..

Here's my expected setup:

CATV IN -> (RF IN @ TV2000XP) AND (TV) via splitter [then] SVIDEO @ GF4 -> Receiver -> TV

So basically, this is more of a software question... Does the Tuner driver support video overlay? If so, I believe this means my GF4 driver will be able to display that automagically to my svideo (secondary output device) in automatic full screen mode.

That's the master plan.

BTW, anyone know of a chart that has the size breakdown for recorded video? ie 40 GB = 4 Hrs at high quality mpeg vs 40GB = 160Hrs at low quality whatever... Basically, I'm not ready to plunk down cash for a separate 120GB drive but a 40-80gb is reasonable.

Thanks again

I should also add that my audio output is optical (Aopen AW744pro). I'm assuming the audio out from the TV2000XP will connect directly to my soundcard line in unless there's directx handling of the audio streams..
