Hi all...
I saw this TV-Tuner card for 99$ at my local computer store... think it's worth it ?

I intend to stop by there today and check it out... but still, a non-biased persons opinion is always welcome !
🙂

Thanks !

For $99, you should scrap the Leadtek and get the Asus from Newegg for $80.

It's brand new, has a higher quality chip, a great software package and WHQL drivers to boot. 🙂

I have this card and it has alot going for it.

Low cost, remote control and FM tuner to name a few.

Has worked well for me.

Since you have it, can u tell me if the sound output is stereo ? Or Mono ???

I have this card and it does do dbx stereo(according to the box), but it sounds like mono to me. Leadtek also has great driver support. They release new drivers/pvr software every one to two months.

btw the drivers are WHQL

Asus TV Tuner 880 is also excellent. I got it yesterday and I'm totally loving it compared to the PoS Pinnacle PCTV I had for a day ($30 AR at CompUSA). Its a good bit pricier than the Leadtek though (~$35 at NewEgg), but I think the extra software it comes with makes up the difference. I got it based on an Overclockers review and JeSpre's mini review, and I absolutely love it. Incredible picture quality, stereo sound, WHQL XP and 2K drivers, and tons of software and features. I was thinking hard about the Leadtek, but the Asus uses the next-gen Conexant 8230 encoder/decoder chip and has a very solid looking Phillips tuner. After my encounter with the Pinnacle, I didn't want to take any chances on picture quality, so I went with the best under $100.

I was running an ATI Rage Pro All-in-Wonder and replaced it with this card and a GF1 DDR. Much better, and the remote is great.

The Leadtek 2000 XP most certainly does do stereo provided the country is set to "US". However, the Tuner/PVR sometimes puts you in mono mode. Press the "S" key to switch among mono/stereo/sap.

It's a very nice card with a great software bundle. Picture quality is very good from the TV tuner, and good from the RCA inputs...haven't tried SVideo yet.

Thanks a lot for all your input... I'm most certainly gonna go out and get one now... 😉
hehe
(actualy, I'm gonna get someone to buy it for me for X-Mas... 😉 )

I didn't know you could do that, it wasn't in the manual. My PVR is set to USA but when I press "S" only mono displays(no sap or stereo) for some reason.

Make sure you're on a channel that has stereo sound. 🙂

I know that and I did try it on all the channels. I even tried to turn on sap on a sap enabled tv show but that also doesn't work.

I just got the card tonight. The quality is pretty good overall. Is anyone using the card also running dual monitors? I ask because I am unable to run the picture at full screen on my secondary monitor. Anyone have a fix?
