Hi,

I got my 6600 GT last night from NewEgg.com for $155.

First thing I noticed is that the box did not have a factory seal. I was expecting a factory sealed box. If you got one from NewEgg did it come sealed? Should I RMA and get a new one?

I also run 3D Mark and got these results

3D Mark 2001 -- ~11500
3D Mark 03 -- ~7500
3D Mark05 -- 2993

Are these good results? My machine is a Dell Dimension 4500 with 768Mg memory and an extra hard drive. What do you gus think?

1) About the results
2) I am concerned this was an open box somebody returned. Should I RMA it back?

THanks for any help,

cn

Factory seal is just a little tape on the box. And yes, I think that should be close to normal 6600GT... but I think it's a tad low. I believe my OC'd 6600GT got a 3800 or something.

That's weird norm.

I've got mine in a dimension4600 and I get ~3700 (3688, but I can push it still).

OC at 565 / 1170 (stable :-D stock cooling).

2.8 Ghz / 512 MB ram.

and yeah 2.9+ is perfectly normal, especially on a dell.

What settings are you using. I did the 3 game tests and 2 cpu tests, 1024, no AA, Filt normal, everything else off.

Everything off including vsync, no optimizations, and high perf. High qual will probably bump me back a couple hundred points, actually, so I guess we're even. :) Ah..filter is at optimal.

And for 6X00 gt or non-gt users (ALL CARDS!)...I highly reccomend ngo / xg drivers, they are excellent and have great. In fact, the 3688 score was with the 81.94 xg driver...

I THINK I hit higher with the 78.03 though, I can't remember. //

Thats a nice overclock if I may say so.

Are you kidding?? My 6600 GT goes to 600/1250 for benching and 595/1230 for everyday use. I get 4450 3D Marks in '05!

I just downloadded coolbits so that I can overclock it. Using coolbits and the 71.89 NVidia drivers (from their website, not the Leadtek drivers that came with the card), I could only overclock to 550 / 1.02 Ghz. If I try to go higher, the tests fail (with coolbits, yo must click on the "run tests" tab, and then if it passes, you can accept the changes.

Should I be using the Leadtek drivers from the CD instead?

I got 3DMark05 with a score of 3164.

How are you guys overclocking so much? Are you using coolbits?

Also, you guys think it is no problem the box was not sealed?

And you probably have a PCI-X version...?

AGP is clocked lower stock and generally can't go as high as PCI-X can.
My highest is 580 / 1200, any higher is not stable after 72C.

I'd get the latest version of coolbits, although it's just a locked feature in forceware drivers.

Rivatuner is probably the best / safest tool though.

Mine is AGP. Anyway, how are you guys overclocking so much? Coolbits does let me go over the values I mentioned...

My Chaintech 6600GT AGP goes to 567/1040
I get 3600 3Dmarks in 2k5
I'm guessing your cpu may be holding you back some, though I have a Sempron 2200+ @ 1.78GHz. Are you using a Celeron 2.4?

Are you using the nvidia drivers from the Nvidia web site? How did you overclock? Are you using coolbits?

My rig is a Dell 2.4 GHz (see previous posting).

Also, I upgraded to the 81.94 drivers and got lower marks on 3DMark03 and 3DMark05. So I went back to the 71.89 drivers and got my marks back up again.... I was expecting that newer drivers would give me similar or better marks...

Also, my fan is always on. It changes speed depending on what I am doing (working or playing) but it is always on. Is this the way it should be?

My Leadtek died on me last week :(

I am telling you this because I think the cause was:

ALMOST INEXISTENT thermal compound on the chip...so check it out...is easy removing the HSF on that card ^^ ... other that that...great card...u can OC it a lil I think...
