I can hear and see the programs just fine but when I try and watch what I recorded I don't hear anything. I have a sound blaster audigy platinum and I ran the out into the mic in thinkin that would be the best way to record the sound but to no avail....
I bought it so I could burn my home vhs family movies to dvd but have no idea of the best settings or setup to do this. If anyone could supply some tips I'll send my wife over...uh....just kidding ...I'd really appreciate it.....thanks, ed

To record from the VHS player or from live cable, just use the coaxial output. You don't need a separate audio cable connection at all. I have recoreded from live cable and I had both audio and video. I'm still playing with compression but I can definitely record.

How did you connect your VHS player to your computer? All I used was one cable, the coax. I normally have the coax from the cable system hooked up, I just disconnect it and connect the coax from my VHS player so that I can capture from that source instead. I think you overcomplicated things a bit.

And you don't need to burn your captured media to see it, you can play back whatever file format you captured to right from your hard drive. But eventually putting it on disk is what would be best. And then you can use your DVD deck or your computer DVD ROM to play back to your TV, however you want to do it. There's a lot of freedom here, take advantage of it. :)

so far I was just running cable into the back and watching tv. I tried to record some shows and watch them back but there wasn't any sound.
I will hook up a vhs player and run it into my card but I thought I should find out what all these record options mean. I don't want to edit anything just convert it so I can put onto dvd and play it on a dvd player hooked up to my tv...

Check the settings of your Windows mixing program to make certain that when you capture, that the audio level is correct and that the input is not muted and you have the correct device selected for recording

Mic in? Line in buddy: line in; and make sure that line-in is selected in the PVR app's settings. Also worth noting is that with this card, I've had a problem with it muting the line-in/analog-mix in the Windows mixer when doing time-shifting, the solution of which is to immediately un-mute line-in/analog-mix when doing time shifting. Oh, and make sure that under the advanced options for analog-mix that "record without monitoring" is on, otherwise you'll still be hearing sounds when recording, often when you don't want to.

PS Make sure the green end of the supplied audio cable plugs in to the green jack on the Leadtek card, and the blue end on to the line-in on the Audigy(as the Plat. version isn't color coded, where blue-blue would match up)
