Leadtek Ti4400 noise level

Shambles

Junior Member
Hi everybody,

I'm probably going to be picking up a Leadtek A250D pretty soon. I've read that it's resonably quiet in a few places around the web, so imagine my surprise when I cruise over to Tom's Hardware, and observe their 40dba noise measurement for this card. Isn't this louder than a lot of cpu fans, the infamous black delta included?

It's quite important to me that the card isn't too loud, as I use open back headphones to provide my audio while on the computer. Can anyone here share their experiences with the card and perhaps clarify exactly how noisy this bad boy is?

I'm using a stock fan on a Taisol cooler at the moment, so my system is on the quiet side.

Oh, and what do you guys reckon about running the leadtek without the fans, should I get it and find it to be too loud.

Thanks for any help!

oh man...i love the Anandtech Forums. i was like seconds away from posting this exact same question. hope you don't mind if i listen in on the responses here "shambles". this card looks wicked but the HS LOOKS loud at least, i was wondering as well if anyone has a first hand experience with how this card contributes to a computer's noise ?

Not necessarily. Most manufacturer's CPU fan measurements are taken at a distance of 3 feet from the fan, whereas the Ti4400 noise measurements at Tom's appear to have been taken at "42cm" (a bit less than 1.5 feet) from the fan. Thus the two noise figures can't be directly compared.

I just recently added the leadtek ti4400 to my 1800+ system. I really don't notice any kind of a different in noise from my computer. I will say that the card is rock stable and absolutely kicks some butt.

Thanks for the information everyone. It sounds like the card isn't extraordinarly loud, so I'll go ahead and grab one. When I've got it up and running, I'll post my subjective opinion on its noise level in case others are interested.

I think in one of Tom's reviews he mentions that he appreciated the reasonable sound level from this card. He compared the single fan on the MSI card to a blowdrier. So while this card isn't whisper quiet, I think it is one of the better (in terms of noise) cards out there.
