I just bought this board and am building this rig for my father in law:

1) Foxconn case w/300watt PS $35.99
2) 2-80mm Sunon fans $12.00
3) Leadtek K7NCR18G-Pro (Nforce2 w/vid) $125.00
4) AMD Retail AthlonXP 1800+ $72.00
5) 3-256mb Crucial PC2100 DDR $134.97
6) Seagate 40GB 7200rpm Baracuda4 $77.00
7) U.S. robotics 56k V.92 PCI modem $36.00
8) Plextor 48x/24x/48x $94.00
9) Teac 1.44 $9.00

Total 626.70 shipped Bottom line is I am confused about some things and have some questions...

1) When I boot up, bios screen says I have 768mb memory w/32mb shared for the onboard video...is this running dual channel? How do I get it to run in dual channel?
2) In bios Cpu says 100fsb??? but memory @ 266? should I change this?
3) Under winXP properties, it says my cpu is a 1.15ghz...is this correct?
4) Any other tips suggestions?

Don't think about flaming me for what I paid from Newegg as I sold this for $850.00 and he is happy to get it! I wanted the compenents I chose.....Please advise if any ideas on bios settings to tweak this thing

Cpu temp is 33c btw...idle

u bought an amd based system :Q...

now for the help

the FSB should be 133 not 100 mhz

so yes change it

the speed on the cpu is low due to the fsb being only at 100 instead of 133.

to run dual channel all u need to do is populate 2-3 ddr slots which u have done.

the 32 mb memory reserved for the shared video

Adul, on the record, I am a big fan of Nforce and Nforce2 based boards....I always said, All Amd ever needed was chipset help. I hate Via and Sis....Love AMD chipsets and REALLY love Nforce based chipsets...any other help? advise?

...to run dual channel all u need to do is populate 2-3 ddr slots which u have done.

1) What about my 3rd slot that is populated?
2) Are u sure it is running dual channel when the bios is reporting 768mb memory?

I don't think nVidia ever explained exactly what's going on in this situation, with respect to Dual-DDR mode. So, we must choose whether or not to rely on theory. In theory, 512MBs of it is in Dual-DDR mode. And the other 256MBs is in ddr mode.

Good question. According to Anand's look at the Nforce2 MB, going from single channel to dual channel ddr raised 3dmark score from 2949 to 4618 and 20 more fps in UT,

Big difference.
from review
In fact, performance isn't reasonable unless you utilize both 64-bit memory controllers and enable DualDDR

So all I have to do to get Dual channel scores is populate the first two banks with identical memory? Doesn't matter what one does with the 3rd bank?

I think it's 1&3 or 2&3. I'm not too familiar with the board. May want to ask someone at the nforcershq forum.

it is running in dual channel now with the first and 2 or 3rd slot. but yes you are suppose to see 768 MB of DDR has that is how much memory you have

In my manual it says that DIMM #2 & #3 share the same memory bus, and that DIMM#1 is dedicated for 2nd channel memory bus for 128 bit mode.

So if you have your memory in slot#1 and #2 or #1 and #3 your good to go.

It also says that DIMM's can be located on all DIMM sockets in 128-bit mode.

So it sounds like you should get dual DDR with all slots populated, but I don't know how if #2 and #3 run on the same bus.

Just benchmark it real quick and you'll know.
