Hey guys, I have a perplexing problem with my Leadtek Geforce 6800GT. When I installed it into my Epox Nforce 3 system, there is significant display corruption, from the beginning (bootup screen). When I tried the card in my brother's system, which is a Via KT880 Pro system, the card works fine (no display corruption).

However the Radeon 9500 that I am using in the meantime, works fine in my system. I tried to see if my PSU was the culprit, but when I put my brother's Seasonic 400w PSU, into my system, it still showed the same problem. My current setup has a Antec TruPower 380.

Nothing is overclocked. Do you guys think my Epox motherboard AGP slot is somehow damaged?

got the latest bios for that epox board?

also the latest Nforce Forceware drivers from Nvidia? i believe you want v5.10 for Nforce 3 chipset

if it corrupts that early on in his machine, and not in another machine then its not a heat problem by the sounds of it, but i guess it wouldnt hurt to remove the HSF and re-apply some thermal paste and then replace the HSF ensuring a good contact.

you want fast writes off in the bios too, that'll help stability problems if you encounter any

The thing is, I get display corruption IMMEDIATELY upon bootup. This is all before windows, so I don't think drivers have anything to do with it. My Epox board has the latest bios.

I had an Epox board and it was corrupt. I tried all types of BIOS and such, finally got rid of it and everything works.

It may not be a problem with your system, but if the graphics card works elsewhere . . .

Oh, also you plugged the card in, right?

I had a similar problem with a shuttle NF3 mobo and a MSI 6600GT AGP. They both worked fine apart, but when the 6600GT went into the shuttle, I woud corruption under 3d apps... After a couple RMA's I found no resolution and just put them seperate. The 6600 went into a chaintech nf3 mobo and the shuttle got a 5900...

I had the same problem with two different Leadtek GeForce 6800 GT cards. Static, or 'snow' right from POST.

I tried the card in three different machines with three different motherboards and two different chipsets and got the same result. Also tried everything else in the world without effect.

If you got it to work in another machine then the card is fine, it appears to be incompatible with your motherboard. Perhaps the two cards I got were okay as well, just not compatible with multiple motherboard chipsets. Who knows.

I had to RMA mine twice before I gave up. Bought a BFG 6800 GT OC and it worked fine. This is a Leadtek issue and is why I will not buy another Leadtek card.

Good luck!

guess its hit n miss with all manufacturers really. ive had terrible troube with MSI mobo's and will never buy another, where some people swear by them

i have a Leadtek 6800GT AGP, and a ASUS K8NE-Deluxe skt754 Motherboard....and its been nothing but bliss since i put it together. havent had a single problem, never overheated, never went corrupt, everything still works flawlessly

i couldnt be happier with my leadtek card, and i love the vulgarity of its massive copper slab heatsink. ill buy from them again for sure.

but ill agree with you, it appears the card and that particular mobo just dont get on, the only solution may be to either get a refund on the leadtek and buy another brand, or splash on a new mobo
