The problem I have been having is that almost any 3D game that I run, the game will run for a short period then crash, either to the desktop, blue screen, or say that the game have given errors and crash. I have found this to be the case on all but one game (sof2 test). The errors are rarely the same when it blue screens. The games that crash are Race Driver Demo, Cricket 2002 Demo and 3dmark2001se. The only other game I have on hand is Solider of Fortune 2 MP test which hasn't crashed yet (is it opengl?). 3dmark2001se will always crash during the chase scene when on high detail, but it is rare for it to crash on low detail i have found. It will also crash on the 3dmark2001se demo, but it does sometime make it to the second loading part, but always crashes soon after.
I have applied the W2k patch for athlon systems found at the amd site, and i have also tried underclocking the WinFast A250 TD RAM and GPU as well as underclocking the CPU, but this did not fix the problem. I have also tried conservitive setting in the motherboard's BIOS but this didn't help either. I believe my power supply is adequate as it is an Enermax 350W.
I have the latest via 4in1 drivers and have tried the latest beta agp driver from via but it doesn't help. As well as DirectX 8.1.
BIOS is up to date and i am using Nvidia Det. 28.32 (Also tried 28.90, 29.40 and Leadtek 28.32). A fresh install of Win2k sp2 hasn't helped either.
My system is this:
1.4GHz Athlon
Iwill KK266+ (VIA KT133A chipset)
Leadtek GeForce 4 Ti 4400
I think it maybe Direct X that is stuffing things up, but i just can't figure it out
or fix it for that matter. Anyone have an idea of what to do??
