The problem I have been having is that almost any 3D game that I run, the game will run for a short period then crash, either to the desktop, blue screen, or say that the game have given errors and crash. I have found this to be the case on all but one game (sof2 test). The errors are rarely the same when it blue screens. The games that crash are Race Driver Demo, Cricket 2002 Demo and 3dmark2001se. The only other game I have on hand is Solider of Fortune 2 MP test which hasn't crashed yet (is it opengl?). 3dmark2001se will always crash during the chase scene when on high detail, but it is rare for it to crash on low detail i have found. It will also crash on the 3dmark2001se demo, but it does sometime make it to the second loading part, but always crashes soon after.

I have applied the W2k patch for athlon systems found at the amd site, and i have also tried underclocking the WinFast A250 TD RAM and GPU as well as underclocking the CPU, but this did not fix the problem. I have also tried conservitive setting in the motherboard's BIOS but this didn't help either. I believe my power supply is adequate as it is an Enermax 350W.

I have the latest via 4in1 drivers and have tried the latest beta agp driver from via but it doesn't help. As well as DirectX 8.1.

BIOS is up to date and i am using Nvidia Det. 28.32 (Also tried 28.90, 29.40 and Leadtek 28.32). A fresh install of Win2k sp2 hasn't helped either.

My system is this:
1.4GHz Athlon
Iwill KK266+ (VIA KT133A chipset)
Leadtek GeForce 4 Ti 4400

I think it maybe Direct X that is stuffing things up, but i just can't figure it out :( or fix it for that matter. Anyone have an idea of what to do??

If it can't finish 3dmark 2001s.e without crashing there probably is something wrong with the card , can you try it in someone else's system and run 3d mark that would verify if it's the card or not .

I got an email from Leadtek support saying to talk to my store, i talked to my store and they suggested to try another operating system. I tried win98se and the card works perfectly so the card is not the problem. So there is some sort of compatability problem between the card and win2k and maybe the motherboard. I think I will see if i can get my brother to let me test it in his win2k system. It has a P3 700 and intel bx motherboard, and if it work there it looks like my new GF4 and my IWill board don't want to play together (under win2k). Anyone else having problems under win2k with the KT133A chipset and a GF4? Or does it work for you?
