I have a Leadtek GEforce 2 MX400 64Mb and I have downloaded the latest drivers from nvidia.com for win xp but I still can't play Neverwinter nights. Can someone tell me what I need to do to get my game running.

I want to get a new Geforce 4 card but should I wait until the latest Radeon 9700 cards or the newer GEforce 4 cards are out? Is it worth it to get a Radeon 8500 or a Geforce 4 TI4200 and how long will they last?

Thanks Mike.

;) What's your system spec, in particular CPU.

:) Generally with prices of GF3TI200 and Rad8500LE ($90ish) you'd be mad to settle for anything less. If your CPU is 1ghz+ you get a nice boost over GF2TI, GF4MX and Rad7500 ($60ish). With Athlon-1.4ghz or P4-1.6ghz there's enough power to really get the most out of these cards and a 4200 is a real consideration. The 4400 and 4600 cards aren't really worth the extra cash, if you want the best pay the $400 for the Rad9700.

:D In terms of lastability, all GF3TI200/Rad8500LE and up give great perf and play even the newest games well. The GF4TI4200 is the best in terms of lastability a great all-rounder and negates the need to upgrade the gfx card when you upgrade your CPU (it improves with every mhz). For any new card you want 128MB, in some current games (let alone games to come) 64MB is becoming limiting and you really get a big perf hit when more than 64MB is req. Case in point a GF4TI4200-64MB at 300/600 only gives perf equal to a GF4TI4200-128MB at 250/444 when more than 64MB is needed! Also when you do come to sell your card on it will be very difficult to sell on any 64MB card, much like trying to sell on a 32MB card is now.

I have a 1.1Ghz Celeron on a Asus TUSL2-C motherboard. I don't intend on changing my mobo yet so I either have to make do with my GF2 card or get the cheapest GF4 equivalent so that I can play neverwinter nights. Is there any way I can fix my 64Mb card so I can play NVM?

:D A Celeron 1.1ghz is fast enough to benefit well from a GF3TI200 or Rad8500LE ($90), 4200 ($130+) would only be worth it if you need great image quality, dual display, AA, Aniso and the ability to gain a whole lot more when you do upgrade the mobo and CPU. If you buy a new card 128MB is certainly much better in both perf and lastability. However I don't know much at all about NVM but it should run on a GF2MX400 card, even if it's a little clunky it should run. Buying a new gfx card may not get the game to run, it is far more likely to be a sw problem, I take it your other games are running fine and you aren't getting any instability in Windows. Try the latest official drivers from both nVidia AND the manu of your particular gfx card. Other than that be sure to install the latest version of DirX along with all of the latest official drivers for your hw. What card did you have before GF2MX400? In any case be sure to check the NVM (or the game publisher) website for any patches, trouble-shooting or incompatibility info.

It`s not your graphics card,I `ve read at the NWN forums that quite a few people using 1.21 patch are having problems with the game working or loading,I don`t know what patch you`re using, 1.22 is still the latest, the best patch IMHO was 1.20 this version seemed to work best for most people.

Try this good NWN help guide .
