Leadtek 6800NU : don't the 6800s throttle down when in 2d?

My 2d and 3d speed is the same and my fan speed is constant. Don't the 6800s throttle down when in 2d?

The fan should be a little bit quieter and you can set the 2d speed to something different, but it ussually results in instability, atkeast with the Ultras.

I'm curious because my old 5900XT had two speeds by default, one for 2d and one for 3d...

My XFX GT is set at 350/1000 for both 2d and 3d.
