Leadtek 6800 gt on 1280 by 1024 dell 17" flatpanel

I was all excited about buying this new graphics card and a overclocking it, and running it at the highest settings, then my dumba&% realized my 17" dell flatpanel maxes at 1280 by 1024, not 1600 by 1200.

Not buying a new monitor anytime soon, should I still invest in this card, and even overclock it that? Or is it overkill, and could I see the same results with a cheaper card.
 
i have a iiyama prolite 17ich monitor max's at 12x10 @75hz,

i also have a 6800gt @ 400/1.1ghz and tbh even on ut at 12x10 max settings i find it bit difficult to play with just 8xaf, i must be sensititive to fps but soon as i put 8xaf on ok it looks alittle better but the performance isnt what id hoped.

jus plug for the 6800 and u wont be disappointed...i wasnt.
