Leadtek 6600GT DVI output distorted but analog output OK?

I just bought a Leadtek 6600GT AGP and a Avidav 17inch LCD. When I hook up the LCD to the analog port everything is ok, but when I hook up the LCD to the DVI port the screen has red dots in all the bright spots on the screen. It is on a fresh install of WinXP Pro. I tried it hooked up to DVI first. It had the red spots on the first boot but they werent very noticeable and then they went away. I then played HL2 for about half an hour and when I exited the game the red spots came back but were then very noticeable. I then tried it hooked to the analog port and it was fine, changed back to the DVI and the spots were back. I have tried it back and forth several times with the same results. What I want to know is which is the likely culprit here the LCD or the video card. I am using the latest 66.93 nvidia drivers.
