Looking at current prices, i can pick up a leadman 500W psu for the same price as a enermax 350W psu. Is the extra 150W in the leadman worth the quality difference between it and the enermax?

Well, I don't know about the 350W Enermax, but I just picked up an Enermax EG651P-VE (550W total, 650W peak) and it seems to be working pretty good, so far. I just put it in yesterday though. Pretty quiet, too even with 2 fans.

Don't listen to the Enermax hype.. if you truly want 500W's get the leadman otherwise settle with a good quality PSU in lower wattages.. Antec, Topower, Sparkle and Enermax are good choices..

Enermax, Topower, Sparkle (Fortran, Aopen), Antec, PC Power and Cooling,Enlight, Some Seventeam, HighPower and Enhance Psus - make up many of the best(among others) PSus around.

In terms of features (extra molex connectors, noise, temp monitoring) then Enermaxes, Topowers and PC Power and cooling will often come out on top- but in terms of just being a 'good PSu' all of these brands do the job well.

GreyWolfe- You need to tell us more about what this PSu will do? If you are powering numerous devices, or a dual MP system you might really need that 500W, however if you are wanting it to O/C an Athlon- you may want to look more at the output down the combined 5v and 3.3 rails

here is a very basic leadman 500W review

The hype has become that Enermax are the best PSU's and cannot be beat, I've experienced a few myself that had horrible 5V rails.. they are not the best in all cases.. but most are very good PSU's but they are not the end all of PSU's there are many other choices equal to or better than.. I still recommend them however and thats why I still list it as a good choice..

Edit: Better that than to proclaim Enermax garbage cuz I had two bad experiences with them.. every company is capable of producing the occasional bad PSU.. I won't do like other people and have a "blood feud" with Enermax cuz of two bad PSU's (poor 5V rails and no warranty :() many of them are very solid units.. I'd suggest you avoid lower than 350W's with the Enermax's tho.. also another part of the 'hype' is that they are silent when the dual fan units were far louder than even my old Sparkle with a .19A fan which I always thought was pretty loud, I gather it's a design flaw..

I will have to agree, that would be hype for any product on any market. There is always something better or at least on the way. I still say go with the Ennermax based on reviews, features, and quality. Just depends on what you need and can spend on a power supply.
