Lead poisoning prompts kids' jewelry recall

The 8-inch-long metal bracelets and charms have the name "Reebok" engraved on the side of the charm. The bracelet was provided as a free gift with the purchase of various styles of children's footwear at major shoe stores nationwide from May 2004 through March 2006.

In a separate action Thursday, the CPSC said about 580,000 necklace and ring sets, imported by Dollar Tree Distribution Inc., are being recalled for a lead poisoning danger.

yah, because the parents have nothing to do with what they actually give their parents ...

What???

..ya. What?? 😕

it's getting recalled because some 4 year old swallowed one and died of lead poisoning. if the parent had been watching what they gave their child or let alone, watching what they were doing w/the bracelet, then this wouldn't have happened.

(I'm assuming that any type of lead in that amount consumed by a 4 year old would resolve in lead poisoning, but correct me if my assumption is way off heh)

EDIT: LMAO ... just realize I had a huge typo 😀 fixed now.

did you see the picture? it's not tiny, and if it's being sold in the dollar store, I wouldn't think it's made of high quality metal.

even if its not swallowed its disturbing that it has that high level of lead. kids will put things in their mouths even if they don't swallow it would be bad. dollar store or not they shouldn't be allowed to sell hazardous stuff
