Leaadtek GF3 vs Gainward GF3

Has any other site tested these two in a roundup besides Tomshardware???

Tomshardware recommended the gainward over the Leadtek, even tho the Leadtek was the winner in most of the tests.

Is there something wrong with the Leadtek??

The MSI StarForce 822 comes with 2 cool games, but the 2D quality was the worst in Anandtech's roundup.

I'm trying to decide which GF3 to get... any ideas?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Leadtek. If you rtead why they recommended the Gainward, it was because of features. All the GF3's have the same chip, just the Gainward and ASUS ones had more features, thus, Tom reccomended those...

I'm guessing 3 years.. maybe? I don't really know warranties... But I;'m guessing longer tahn you'll need

All the reviews I read said the Gainward had the best 2D quality of the bunch, and although the difference is minimal, it was faster than the rest as well. The differences were never more than 5% though.

Although I also read that the performance of the Leadtek is directly affected by the number of extra "E's" in Leadtek. 😀

I went the Gainward way and all I can say is that it's one excellent card! The visual quality is far superior to all my old GF cards (they've all been from Asus).

I would pay the extra just to get a retail boxed ver w/ a 3 year warranty, BUT I'm wondering whic has better 2D quality - Leadtek or Gainward.

The leadtek seems to be the fastest of the bunch. but not by a lot.

I just checked it with Gainward Europe. The manufacturer gives three years which sounds more convincing. Especially now that my CTX monitor burnt on the 2 month of its second year🙁 Go with the Gainward Golden Sample, mine does 250/545 and most of their cards overclock in the same range🙂

I doubt Leadtec is a faster card and the visual quality of Gainward is second to none (based on Anand's review and my experience confirms it too...)

I dunno bout leadtek, but I went with gainward becasue of 2d quality and it does not disappoint. performance at 250/540 is just fine, thank you! oh, and the red pcb is just cool 😀

I have the LeadTek and am very happy with it. I had the Hercules and returned it. The memory was bad. The 2D queality is great with the LeadTek. I was looking for the Gainward and could not find it so, the LeadTek is my second choice. 250/545 is awesome. I can only get 240/540 max with the LeadTek.

I got the GAinward GF3, and its 2D quality is almost on par with my Matrox G200 PCI's (at 1920x1440). And the VIVO features are really nice too

Search Anand's site as he does a comparison as well. He says 2d quality is just as good on the Gainward as on the Radeon. (Which we all know is very nice). He also said it had the best 2D of all the Geforce 3's he compared. Not to mention its cheaper than the Leadtek I think at www.newegg.com. And the Golden Sample from Gainward is a very good over clocker.

I have both and would go with the Gainward card due to the better overclocking capability, otherwise I have seen no real difference in display quality between the two cards.
