buleyb made a great post which makes me beg the question in a NEW topic

why do laptops have 15" screens that do 1600 x 1200 while desktop LCDs can only do a mere 1280 x 1024 or lower even at sizes of 19"??

i know about scaling and such but if it scales soo much then how does it still looks os damn good??

This has been covered before here on AT. The manufacturers claim there are no demand for it, which is probably true.

Edit: Link.

Yet half the people in Gen Hardware seem to be complaining about it :p

But those people are the geeks, and they can't create enough of demand. :p

Edit: I would love to have a high-resolution lcd. But Windows (and other apps) would have to do a better job of scaling it. Yes I know you can scale it today, but it takes a lot of work, and it still doesn't look completely "normal".

because people will happily pay over 500 dollars for only 1024x1280 or whatever. they are making the bling bling already, and any ultrta resolution screen would have to be priced very high indeed.

People would complain: "everything is small!".

Most people at offices I've worked at don't even know what monitor resolution is.
