I want to assembly my own touch screen lcd. I was thinking to use some panel I pulled out from old notebook. After researching I still unsure whether I should buy a LCD controller. Anybody have good resources in regards to this mater ?

Anybody know where I can get cheap touchscreen membrane or cheap LCD ? Thanks in advance.

You're talking really technical stuff when considering controlling your own LCDs. I am sure there are line by line, pixel by pixel controllers out there... But, my suggestion would be to use an existing working laptop and taking it apart and attaching a touchscreen membrane to it that hooks up to the COM port. OR, go on Ebay and find an old panasonic or fujitsu laptop with a touch-screen. Those two manufacturers are the only two major ones I know that often put T-screens on they're laptops.

try taing the controller from your notebook.... you wont, there is no controller. the gpu outputs DIRECTLY to the lcd row/colum dividers, which go to the lcd. I've looked around at high end contollers and the samsung ltn154u1 for about 6 months, finding controllers in the reange of about 400 bucks, with no guarantee of it working with the pannel and no bios settings for it. i gave up and got a 2001fp.

I know for a fact that a Laptop LCD has its own controller and it has a serial interface to the GPU. I believe it is an LVDS interface. You could probably find those controllers in the $100-2003 range. Or you could get a Via mini-itx board. Some of them have LVDS connectors for LCDs. For the touch screen, just look for a kit that attaches to the com port or USB port. Don?t try to make you own. Hmmmmm, maybe its time to start a car pc..............................

Thanks for the response; car pc cool idea. I am trying to make my own POS touch screen system. Do you know good store that sells the controller or mini itx board with good pricing.
