LCD vs TV ?????

I'm sorry in case i prove to be the ultimate noob... but i need help with something:
I have a computer and a TV hooked together. I don't have a CRT monitor because i don't have the room for it : the computer is used primarily for games and DVD movies. There are times that i do some extensive work with photoshop as well for fun (image/photo editing) since i am into photography as well...
Lately i begun thinking that maybe i could have room for an LCD-TFT panel. After some research i understood how and why they are worse than CRT's for Photo-work.
My Question is: How does an LCD screen compare to my TV-out? Of course i know that LCD's are better but are they better in terms of contrast and color as well? If the image that i get from an LCD is not worse (in photo-ealism) than the image i get on my TV screen, then i should go get one...
BUT IS IT????
Please Help

Actually, man, the image you would get with a decent CRT is gonna be about 2-3 times as good as what a tv will give you, in terms of clarity. You should keep your tv hooked up (assuming it's bigger than 19"), but move it away from the computer, and buy a 19"CRT monitor. They're not expensive at all now. Mine only cost $200 a year ago, and it does 1600x1200. The same place that I bought mine now sells it for around $150.

LCD's are great for things like photo editing, or reading e-mail, but they aren't "fast" enough for gaming, unless you spend around $1000 for a decent sized one.

Of course i know that LCD's are 'IN GENERAL' a looot better than TV's. What i was really asking is if they have AT LEAST the same color and contrast range as TV's have. I mean, i know how they (tft) can't compete against crt's in that respect so i just wondered if normal TV's exceed in that as well... I also wondered if there would be any errors when zooming in a photo, since lcd's have the 'scaling' problems...
Reading your reply, i understand that LCD's are better in every respect than TV's, right? I hope you understand the aspects (color/contrast range) that trouble me.
Thank you for your help, please if you have anything more to say i would really appreciate it...
Also, would i have to get an expensive tft screen to be able to work with photoshop getting better results than from tv's? Or even a cheap/descent one ($350) would do???
(remember, i'm not looking for the absolute best... i'm looking for something somewhat better than the photo results i get now)

im really suggesting u better buy a normal 15" monitor(only 15" because u dont have enough space.try to adjust a bit).color and contrast....... i wud say that they are almost equal.a cheap ,descent one wud do fine.but tft's are a strain to the eyes and really bad at gaming.and if ur working with photosop,i dont know whether u wud be able to zoom a lot with a TFT LCD.but the choice is ur's. GOOD LUCK on choosing!

Best Picture Quality: CRT
Great Picture Quality, Best Space Saver and Lowest Power Consumption: LCD
Crappiest Picture Quality: TV

LCD picture quality is great, but not up to par with CRT. At best near CRT Quality. The white papers say it all.

Scaling is only the difference in resolutions. If you keep it at native resolution and refresh rate, then it looks crisp.
