LCD vesa connection....huh?

I've never dealt with vesa connection since I never dealt with LCD monitors. But someone at the office just got one and he need to connect it to an hp pavilion. I don't believe it comes with a digital video interface. Is there an adapter to this sort of thing or do I have to get a separate network card? If the latter, what fairly good (for office use only) graphics has the connector?
