LCD upgrade worth it? Come on in!

Here's my situation:

Currently i have a 37" Toshiba 1080i/720P LCD and i have zero problems with it. Just got a PS3 and it looks amazing.

Meanwhile, this guy at my work has a brand new in the box Sharp Aquos 42" 1080p that he needs to get rid of (financial probs with the wifey), so i was deciding to buy it for $900 and he's willing to take it.

At the same time my parents are looking for a LCD and are willing to buy mine from me for $600. Im kinda tight on money right now also. With that being said, do you guys think its worth doing a $300 upgrade to the Sharp? Is there going to be a huge difference between quality?

I voted "yes"; but how much did you pay for yours and how much was his purchase?
Also depends on where you're putting it - living room or bedroom?
Personally, I have a 32" and wish I could upgrade to a 37"~

I only paid $800 + tax for mine (its tunerless), and i think he paid 1100 after one of those crazy pricematch coupon deals. Its going in my living room as my main tv

Short answer: DO IT!

Long answer: Can you check it out in person in a light controlled environment? If there are no banding problems, I would go for that faster than... well let's not go there 😱

300$ upgrade is worth it as long as there are no banding problems.

yeah i went for it 🙂 it looks fantastic. My parents use a digital cable box now, i'm just gonna upgrade them to a HD DVR Box when they get a chance to upgrade. Im extremely satisified with the Sharp. When i purchased my Toshiba it was definitly better picture quality than the Olevias and Sceptres my friends have, and now this is definitly a step up from my Toshiba.
