If you can get your budget up to $250-280ish, look for an NEC EA231WMi. It's an E-IPS panel (better input lag than PVA, and better colors than PVA / TN), though only 23" and 1920x1080. It doesn't have HDMI, but it does have DisplayPort (even better IMO) and DVI / VGA. The stand is also excellent.

For the price, nothing beats it.

Interesting comparison (I actually ran through the calculation yesterday):

A) 23" 1920x1080
B) 24" 1920x1200

B has 15% more screen area.

Also, if you're looking for a 23" 1920x1080, Dell has the UltraSharp U2311H eIPS panel for $239 right now (check deal sites for coupon)

I've always moved my monitor in the original packing (styrofoam and all), and haven't had any issues.

Too much work. I'd probably leave that for if I was actually moving, as opposed to taking my computer to a friends or something.

Yeah thats one of two reasons I was even considering the HP referb. You get a better screen (rez and panel type) but lose a warentee and risk getting a dud. Now hoever I'm not even considering either and have found the SP2309W. Panel is still a TN but it seems to be on the higher end of the quality range for the type. Plus a 2048x1152 resolution for 223 shipped.

I'll take a look as you say its a eIPS. 23" and 1920x1080 are min reqs though for me. I'll probably be ordering whatever I decide today.

By the way does anyone know of anything I can get to cover the front of the display when moving it? Like a thin hard plastic protection or something? Or am I stuck making something out of the box the LCD comes in? :p

Just get some bubble wrap and stick the monitor back in the box. Could have probably just saved the Styrofoam too.

Yeah I could just do that. Just want a buffer between the screen and the outside world possiblt bumping against said screen. Has to be stiff though, bubblewrap might work unless what bumps against it is an edge of something, then it will just pop. Im thinking something stiff that rests on the bevel of the monitor (not the screen itself) so even if something like that happened the force would be translated all across the outside bevel.

Im surprised I cant find anything for it, seems like it would make a good accessory. Im only on about this becuse my animals tipped something over and it hit my 215TW in a way that couldent of been protected by styrofoam, but something riged
